Document Description
Project work will start within Section 15 T25N R7W approximately 1.5 miles south of Colyear Springs Road (Tehama County Road 356) and will follow a number of ridge lines south terminating at Eagle Peak located within Section 22 T24N R7W. Historically wildfires have continually burned over this portion of Tehama County. With the control of naturally occurring wildlife over the past 90 years, vegetation within the project area has developed into very dense, sometimes solid stands of chamise as well as mixed chaparral at higher elevations. This has created an extreme fire risk equal to or greater than pre-fire conditions. When completed, the Eagle Peak Fuel Break will provide protection to both upslope timberlands and down slope chaparral covering Valentine Ridge. Raglan Ridge and Riley Ridge. This area contains the headwaters of Elder Creek's North, Middle and South Forks along with their related tributaries.
