The Project consists of the installation of Large Organism Exclusion Devices (LOEDs) at the primary offshore intake structures Unit 2 and Unit 3 of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. The LOEDs are being installed in consultation with the State Water Resources Control Board under the State's "Water Quality Control Policy on the Use of Coastal and Estuarine Waters for Power Plant Cooling" ("Once-Through Cooling" [OTC] Policy), and in accordance with the Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 316(b) to mitigate for potential impacts to large marine species.
