Document Description
Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has issued an emergency permit to California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDFFP) to treat hazardous waste by burning. The hazardous waste to be treated consists of up to 85,000 pounds of fireworks ((Department of Transportation Hazard Class 1.4). The items are seized by CDFFP during multiple seizure actions and are illegal for sale in California. The emergency permit is effective from July 16, 2012 through October 12, 2012. Treatment will be scheduled depending on weather, logistics, and availability of personnel. The treatment activites will be conducted by qualified personnel from CDFFP, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad, and/or other local emergency response agencies.
