Document Description
The proposed project is a renewable energy development that would generate up to 40 megawatts of electricity through use of solar photovoltaic power. The project proponent is requesting: (a) Amendments to the land use designation from 5.6/2.8 to 8.5; (b) changes in zone classification from the existing zone district E (2 1/2) RS (Estate Residential, 2 1/2 acre minimum lot size, Residential Suburban Combining) to A (Exclusive Agriculture) District on up to 324 acres (c) conditional use permits to allow for a commercial solar facility. The project would be supported by a 230-kV overhead transmission corridor. The transmission line would generally be aligned to the east where it ultimately would be connected to the existing SCE Whirlwind Substation. The project's permanent facilities would include up to 700,000 solar modules, service roads, a power collection system, communication cables, overhead and underground transmission lines, electrical switchyards, project substations, meteorological towers, and operations and maintenance facilities.
