- The Honey Lake Valley Resource Conservation District has requested $273,735 from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy's Proposition 84 Healthy Forests Grants Program to fund fuel reduction treatments on 477 acres within the Diamond Mountains. The proposed project would implement fuels reduction treatment through a combination of mechanical thinning on approximately 420 acres; hand thinning, pruning, and slash disposal on approximately 48 acres; and removal of conifers less than 12 inches in diameter at breast height from approximately nine acres on two meadows. Woody debris and biomass generated would be utilized to the maximum extent feasible for chips to be delivered to a waste generation facility or for fuel wood. Slash would be piled and burned or removed, chipped, and masticated, as appropriate.
