Document Description
The proposed project is to acquire the existing Blanchard Fire Station property which is currently leased by the State of California sence 1944. The lease expires in December of 2012. Efforts by Cal Fire's staff to secure a lease renewal were unsuccessful since the owner does not want to encumber the real property with a leasehold. Funds were identified in the 2011-2021 budget year to acquire the site, after the landowner listed the station and surrounding +/-110 acres for sale, identified as Assessor Parcel Number 071-190-35 and 071-190-33. The fate of the station is unknown if the Lessor sells the site to a third party. To ensure continued fire protection from this existing station, the State asked the landowner to sell a portion of real property to the State.
