A school will be selected which offers a near identical constant volume package air conditioning unit serving a classroom. A state-of-the-art single-zone VAV unit will be installed to replace one of the constant volume units where its performance can be directly compared with a constant volume unit. Energy use and other performance data will be collected and compared between the two units. The information generated can show the school district and its design teams the cost effectiveness and other benefits and other benefits of the Variable Air Volume units compared with the constant volume units.
