- The project represents the upgrade of existing, dirt, Helicopter Landing Zone (LZ) at the South Lake County Fire Station 60, located at 21095 CA Hwy 175, in Middletown California. The upgraded LZ will be in the same general location as the existing LZ, located adjacent to the fire station parking lot. Construction of the upgraded LZ requires the following: Removing four mature (10" to 20") Valley Oak trees, to accomplish a 150' obstruction free Landing Zone, bringing in clean fill dirt to elevatea 40' x 40' pad 1' off the existing ground, leveling and compacting the fill dirt, forming and pouring a 30' x 30' concrete pad atop the compacted dirt pad, forming and pouring a 6' x 40' walkway connecting the concrete pad to the parking lot, excavating a 75' x 1' x 1' electrical trench, laying conduit and backfilling, install perimeter lighting around the helipad, and install lighting controls ona 4 x 4 post near the beginning of the walkway.
