Document Description
Roadway preparation includes dig-outs and cold-planing to help smooth and strengthen the pavement surface prior to the rubberized hot mix asphalt overlay. Dig-outs and cold-planing would be a maximum of approximately 3 inches deep and would vary slightly in depth and length from locatio to locations. Dig-outs would be replaced with a solid base of hot mix asphalt (HMA). An approximate 3-foot-wide strip of shoulder backing would be placed at the edge of pavement where AC dikes don't existing, to provide a smooth transition from the pavement to the shoulders. The existing yellow or white thermoplastic striping would be ground out to conform the pavement to the public roadways and construction limits.
