Document Description
The primary purposes of the project are water storage and regulation, groundwater recharge and water conservation. The project consists of the enlargement/reconfiguration of an existing regulatory pond, construction of water control structures and installation of a pipeline to connect the existing American Colony mainline canal and the enlarged/reconfigured basin. The improvements will be developed, owned and operated by the Fresno Irrigation District. In addition to increasing the FID's overall water supplies, other project goals and objectives include sustaining more uniform water delivery flow rates to constituents; maintaining the high quality water supply of FID; sustaining the visibility of agriculture within FID; and reducing overdraft by dedicating water to groundwater recharge.
