Document Description
The downtown area of San Bernardino is well-positioned in the next decade to experience an urban renaissance. The focus area for the proposed "Water Features, Wells. Landscaping to Mitigate High Groundwater and Liquefaction Hazards Associated with Development in Downtown San Bernardino Project" is a critical component of the downtown renaissance, as several significant projects have been either designated for this area or have been identified as potential projects in this area, including new high-rise county office buildings, a new 36 courtroom courthouse and possible new high-rise office project. These potential projects would be significantly enhanced by the proposed high groundwater and liquefaction mitigation project. However, the primary objective of the project is to mitigate the existing liquefaction hazard associated with the high groundwater levels and effectively utilizing this water source to effectively assist in better managing the area limited water resources. The proposed project includes the construction of water corridor features along Sierra Way, Mountain View Avenue, and 3rd Street, the construction of Meadowbrook Park Lake, rehabilitation of Seccombe Lake, landscape features, and the installation of two wells (IVDA 1 and IVDA 2), water piping, pumps and related appurtenances.
