Document Description
The San Joaquin River has been impacted historically by in-channel and floodplain sand and gravel mining leaving both off channel mine pits and in-channel captured mine pits. Many off channel pits habe breached allowing the river to run through them. Within the San Joaquin River Restoration Program Restoration Area mine pits are believed to be dominated by predatory fish and may pose an area of high mortality to migrating juvenile Chinook salmon.
