Oak Reestablishment Project
NOE - Notice of Exemption
Replant five acres of native Coast Live Oaks on Angel Island State Park to re-establish native oak trees in this area. Work will collect Acorns from trees on Angel Island, excavate to plant at a rate of 225 per acre for a total of 1125 planted acrons in 500 10-inch wide by 5 inch deep holes, and excavate a 5-inch diameter hole 12 inches deep filled with a slow release watering material next to each planting. In addition, work will install browse protection around each planting and mist netting to prevent bird entrapment. Planting sites will be monitored and maintained for two years.
