Document Description
The project will allow the Castaic Lake Water Agency (CLWA) a one-time transfer of 11,000 acre feet (AF) of its Buena Vista Water Storage District (BVWSD) /Rosedale-Rio Bravo Water Storage District Water (RRBWSD) Storage and Recovery Program water. CLWA has a supply of 11,000 AF of water from the BVWSD/RRBWSD Water Banking and Recovery Program that is deliverable to CLWA in the California Aqueduct as a portion of BVWSD's and RRBWSD's Kern County Water Agency (KCWA) State Water Project Table A water. The 11,000 AF of KCWA Table A water would then be transferred internally within KCWA to the Kern Westside Districts. Lost Hills Water District (LHWD) is a member unit of the KCWA and the lead Kern County participant on the transfer of water to be purchased from CLWA. Three other Kern County water district will also participate on the transfer of water to be purchased from CLWA. Three other Kern County water districts will also participate as recipients of the transfer water; all four of these Kern County water districts are members units of the KCWA. The CLWA service area is located in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, although the water being transferred originated in Kern County, is currently stored in Kern County, and will be used within Kern County.
