Document Description
The project is an amended reclamation plan for J. F. Shea Construction, Inc.'s aggregate surface mining operation at West Pit Mine (CA Mine ID 91-47-0048). Since the applicant is operating the mine under vested conditions, only the approval of the amended reclamation plan is within the scope of this review. The project site is located on 14.12 acres of low-lying hill in the Shasta Valley, of which 11.47 acres are used for surface mining operations and 2.65 acres are used for an asphalt batch plant operated by J. F. Shea. The quarry is 11.03 acres. All 11.47 acres disturbed by mining operations are proposed for reclamation. The most recent survey of the project site (2011) indicates that the site has an existing maximum elevation of 2,540 feet consistent with surrounding properties. The site will be left in a condition suitable for industrial uses with an all-weather, graveled surface graded to drain to the southeast corner (0.5 percent slope).
