- Jack L. Spence, Inc. has applied for a CUP for a poultry litter composting operation. The facility is proposed to compost a maximum of 50,000 tons of poultry litter per year. Daily tonnages delivered to the site will range from zero to 500 tons and poultry litter will be delivered during daylight hours, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Poultry litter generally consists of roughly 50% poultry manure and 50% bedding material such as rice hulls, straw, and/or sawdust. Poultry litter will be supplied exclusively by Foster Farm Commodities, dba Organic Farms, from poultry ranches located throughout the Central Valley.
