Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Game is executing Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2012-0100-R2, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency. The project consists of modifying the channel of Unionhouse Creek for approximately 1.6 miles, from immediately downstream of Bruceville Road, to upstream of Franklin Boulevard, to improve floodwater conveyance capacity. The proposed improvements would increase the capacity and velocity of water moving through this segment of creek to a 100 year flood event, thereby reducing flood risk sufficiently to meet urban standards. Modifications to the segment of Unionhouse Creek from Bruceville Road to Center Parkway would include replacing damaged portions of the existing concrete on the channel bottom and installing new concrete lining on the channel side slopes. Modifications to the western segment from Center Parkway downstream to Franklin Boulevard would consist of widening the existing 12-foot wide channel bottom by an additional 8-feet south to accommodate the bottom widening. Damaged concrete in the channel bottom would be replaced and the new 8-foot wide channel bottom segment lined with concrete. The project site will be dewatered for a period of 15 days prior to beginning construction. The segment from Brucevillle Road to Center Parkway measures approximately 2,900 feet long by 66 feet wide from top of bank to top of bank. The affected surface area of the segment encompasses approximately 4.4 acres. The segment from Center Parkway to Franklin Boulevard measures approximately 7.47 acres. A total of 11.88 acres would be disturbed, including placement of 20 cubic yards (CY) of 3/4 crushed rock, 2,233 CY of structural concrete, and removal of 18,000 CY of soil, and 100 CY of existing damaged concrete.
