- The District undertakes vector control activities through its program to control the following vectors of disease and/or discomfort in the program areas: mosquitoes, rats, mice, ticks, yellow jacket wasps, and other stinging/biting insects such as biting files. The District has, since its inception in 1925, taken a proactive integrated systems approach to mosquito and vector control, utilizing a suite of tools that consist of public education, surveillance, and physical (e.g., source reduction, vegetation management, water management), biological, and chemical control. The district also performs vegetation management (including control of noxious and/or invasive plants) to facilitate access to vector.
