Document Description
The Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District proposes to upgrade its existing facilities at the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Plant to meet National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit requirements issued by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board as confirmed and modified by the SWRCB. To meet permit terms, the District is required to reduce total nitrogen and ammonia levels in its effluent below existing concentrations and provide tertiary filtration for pathogen removal. Permitted capacity will be unchanged. Compliance of the permit is required by May 2021 for ammonia and nitrate removal, and May 2023 for Title 22 or equivalent compliance. The latter (Title 22) requirements are subject to the outcome of currently-pending litigation, and could be modified.
