Document Description
The Class III, non-hazardous solid waste landfill, project includes a revision of the Closure/Post-Closure Plan for the completion of the final closure of the Brawley Solid Waste Landfill and the required stabilization of the southern bank of the New River. The SW landfill last accepted waste in February 2007. In October 2008, the components for the "Final Closure Post Closure Maintenance Plan (FCPCMP)" were prepared by Bryan A. Stirrat and Associates. This included an alternative final cover system (evaporative transpirative cover), storm water basins, waste relocation and bank protection along the north slope of the landfill. The primary purpose of this revised project (2012) is to update the FCPCMP by designing the erosion mitigation approach along the New River that meets the objectives of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, RWQCB, CDFG and LEA/CalRecycle requirements.
