Document Description
The project involves routine maintenance activities within the 1.1-mile reach of Serrano Creek described above. For the purposes of this long-term maintenance agreement, routine maintenance activities are defined as: vegetation removal and minor debris removal (including sediment, trash, and woody debris) to maintain the current channel alignment. The current channel alignment shall be maintained by incorporating a 50-foot maintenance zone. This 50-foot maintenance zone shall consist of a 10-foot wide thalweg zone, and a 20-foot wide medium-growth zone on both sides of the 10-foot thalweg zone (Figures 3a, 3b, and 3c). Maintenance within the 10-foot wide thalweg zone shall include removal of all non-herbaceous plants. Maintenance within the medium-growth zone shall involve the removal of any tree or shrub species larger than 2-inches in diameter (measured at the base), and the removal of any observed non-native species regardless of their size. Vegetation removal shall involve cutting plants at the base, and leaving the root systems in place. Sediment removal is limited to the outfall structures located throughout the 1.1 mile reach of Serrano Creek and shall only be accomplished using hand crews (no heavy equipment).
