Document Description
Chemical analyses of current advanced alternative and alternatively sourced fuels with relationship to infrastructure materials compatibilites will be performed. We will be testing the alternatively sourced natural gas and liquid fuel substitutes to observe whether or not they will not compromise our existing fuels infrastructure, by metal corrosion and/or embrittlement, or degradation of seals, for example. Compromised infrastructure integrity poses the real risk of component failure, if not catastrophic failure. To this end, field evaluations of legacy systems for transportation, storage, and distribution of natural gas and liquid fuels, and their associated materials need to be conducted to assess vulnerablilities.
