Document Description
The proposed project area is approximately 52 acres in size, and is located near the community of Groveland. Dense manzainta and other vegetation will be masticated, or cut, piled, and burned to reduce ladder fuels and create a shaded fuel break along two ridge tops. Work will be conducted by a tracked masticator, or by hand crews equipped with chainsaws and hand tools. Vegetation consists primarily of manzanita, with scattered live oaks and pines. These scattered trees will be retained. The shaded fuel break will extend approximately 150-feet on both sides of the ridge for a total of approximately 300-feetin width. This fuel reduction work will compliment work already completed by the Pine Mountain Lake Homeowner's Associated. The ridge tops contain gentle topography.
