The Project is located adjacent to the Lower American River, on the south levee, between River Mile 22 and 23 in the City of Rancho Cordova. The American River Hatchery Emergency Levee Repair Project involves repair of a levee and construction of a new effluent outlet structure on a water detention "settling" pond located at the west end of the Nimbus Hatchery. The South Pond is one of two settling ponds that accommodates effluent outflow from the adjoining Nimbus Hatchery. The new effluent outlet structure is needed to prevent water levels in the South Pond from exceeding the freeboard criteris. The new effluent outlet structure will connect the South Pond, through a 42-inch diameter, 260-foot long pipe, to the American River.
