The Burton Creek State Park project is one unit of a larger effort of the State Dept. of Parks and Recreation to restore fire to its essential role in the ecosystems within the CA State Parks of the Sierra District; reducing fuel loads and wildfire hazard on public lands. The critical objective of the larger effort is to continue the implementation of a long-term fire and fuels management program within areas previously treated.
