Document Description
Remove vegetation and conduct pile burning in a 300 foot wide by 1.5 mile length strip at Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park to reduce the threat of disease, wildfire, and imporve native forest composition and structure. Work will manually remove excessive surface fuels and ladder fuels, live shrubs, and small diameter understory trees up to 8" in diameter breast height on 21.65 acres; prune trees up to 20 feet or 1/3 crown if less than 20' tall; reduce dead and downed fuel loadings from over 10 tons per acre to less than 3 tons per arce; remove hazardous large diameter snags; retain wildlife supporting large snags and a variety of age classes and species of trees; and pile vegetation in 4' by 4' piles for burning.
