Document Description
The California Department of Public Health (Department), as the Lead Agency, will be providing funds for this project from the Proposition 84 Emergency Clean Water Grant Program. The Athal Mutual Water Company proposes to construct an emergency replacement well to replace the failed Well 2, the sole source currently available to the water system. Due to degradation of the well, a new well must be drilled to replace the lost capacity. The new replacement well is proepsed at the site of Well 1, a primary source which failed in 2011. The project includes destruction of 2 nearby inactive wells, drilling of a new well, installation of pump, chlorine treatment, and other appurtenances. The new well is anticipated to have a capacity of 350 gallons per day.
