Document Description
DTSC is considering approval of a Remedial Action Plan for the former North Beach and Fillmore Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) Sites (hereafter "the Sites") pursuant to Health & Safety Code, Division 20, Chapter 6.8. The RAP was prepared by Haley & Aldrich on behalf of PG&E, the Project Sponsor. The RAP consists of remedial activities to address MGP-impacted soil and soil gas that may be present on private properties at the Sites. Contaminants of potential concern include benzene, cyanide, ethyl benzene, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs, including naphthalene), toluene, and xylenes, Property investigation results have shown that some properties exhibit soil impacts from former MGP operations, while other properties exhibit no apparent MGP-related soil impacts. Properties requiring soil and/or soil gas remediation, due to the presence of MGP residues, would be remediated using one or more of the preferred remedial alternatives presented in the RAP. Remedial activities at the Sites are expected to begin in late spring/summer 2012.
