The project will remove over 4,500 feet of existing ridgeline trail to Valencia Peak and over 2,100 feet of existing trail to Oats Peak and reroute the subject trails along a flatter, more sustainable alignment and make accessibility improvements at Montana de Oro State Park to address severe erosion and provide wheelchair access.

This project consists of the repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public facilities or topographic features involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels; replacement of existing structures; construction of limited numbers of new structures; minor public alterations in the condition of land, and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees except for forestry purposes; included as "modifications of existing facilities for handicap access", "trail or road repairs", trail construction or realignment, and "small parking spaces" in the Department of Parks and Recreation's list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR Sec. 15300.4.
