Document Description
In 2010, the Legislature enacted AB 1343 (Stats. 2010 ch. 420; Public Resources Code Sec. 48700- 48706) which requires the manufactures of architectural paint sold in California to prepare and submit to CalRecycle for approval architectural paint stewardship plans to reduce the generation of postconsumer paint, promote the reuse of postconsumer paint, and manage the end-of-life of postconsumer paint in an environmentally sound fashion. The architectural paint stewardship program also imposes an assessment on paint sold in Califonria to fund the program and prohibits a manufacturer not in compliance with its stewardship plan from selling paint in California. CalRecycle has developed proposed regulations to implement the paint stewardship program.
