Document Description
The proposed project consists of renovation of the Cemetery at the Veterans Home of Yountville. The project is needed because the cemetery requires repiars to improve use, appearance, and maintenance of grounds, and to provide for Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and accessibility to veteran residents and their families. The existing Cemetery is about 10.5 acres and includes about 5,559 gravesites. Many of the gravestones are tilted or leaning, and the small plaza upon which the Monument to the Unknown Soldier is built is deteriorating and ADA inaccessible. The project proposes to clean and realign the headstones, replace damaged fencing, provide landscape measures including additional topsoil, new grass turf, and updated irrigation system, renovate concrete plaza at the Monument, re-grade slope of approach to the Monument and install ADA compliant accessible walks, extend road to the Monument and provide ADA accessible parking.
