Document Description
The proposed action involves the removal of up to five items from UCLA's Hannah Carter Japanese Garden located at 10619 Bellagio Road, Los Angeles (Japanese Garden), and placement of these items at the UCLA Fowler Museum. In 1964, The Regents acquired the Japanese Gardens using gift funds provided by former Regent Carter designated for such purpose. Use of the Japanese Garden by the University had been a part of the academic mission, but the continuing programmatic need has not been realized since the mid 1990's. In April 2011 the University authorized the sale of the Japanese Garden (SCH #2011048063). The relocation of the items from the Japanese Garden will enable continued public access and viewing of the items following sale of the property.
