Document Description
In 2010, the Legislature enacted AB 1343 (Stats 2010, c. 420; Public Resource Code Section 48700 - 48706) which requires the manufacturers of architectural paint sold in California to prepare and submit to CalRecycle for approval paint stewardship plans to reduce the generation of postconsumer paint, promote the reuse of postconsumer paint, and manage the end-of-life of postconsumer paint in an environmentally sound fashion. The architectural paint stewardship program also imposes an assessment on paint sold in California to fund the program and prohibits a manufacturer not in compliance with its stewardship plan from selling paint in California. CalRecycle has developed proposed regulations to implement the paint stewardship program.
