Document Description
The Sierra Waste Wood Grinding Company is requesting the expansion of an existing green materials and woodwaste chip and grind operation to become a large volume transfer station to be called the Sierra Waste Recycling and Transfer Station. The facility proposes to accept up to 1,000 tons per day of wood waste, green materials, mixed construction and demolition waste and electronic waste. The incoming waste will be sorted for recoverable materials. Green and wood waste will continue to be chipped on-site and hauled off to a local biomass plant. The waste streams will be limited by the site's existing Special Use Permit issued by the City of Sacramento and by the requested Solid Waste Facility Permit (SWFP), if approved, which would be issued by the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department (EMD). EMD is the Sacramento County Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) for the Cal Recycle and has authority and responsibility for regulatory oversight and inspection of all solid waste handling and disposal sites within Sacramento County. As proposed, the Project would require a Full Tier Permit from the LEA for a Large Volume Transfer/Processing Facility.
