Document Description
The Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District of Los Angeles County has prepared the Draft Santa Clarita Valley Chloride Compliance Facilities Plan and EIR to determine a recommended project that meets project objectives including compliance with the Upper Santa Clara River Chloride Total Maximum Daily Load (Chloride TMDL). Four final alternatives are analyzed in the DEIR. Under Alternative 1, the Valencia Water Reclamation Plant (VWRP) effluent would receive advanced treatment to remove chloride. A portion of the advanced-treated water would be pumped to the Saugus Water Reclamation Plant (SWRP) for blending with its effluent. The brine waste from the advanced treatment facilities would be disposed via a 37-mile long pipeline to an existing sewer in the Los Angeles Basin.
