Document Description
The project site consists of a 4.93-acre parcel of record located on the south side of State Route 202, overlooking the Brite Valley. The site is currently developed with a mobile home that will remain onsite and continue to be used as a residence by monks. There is also a 1,080 metal building that is used for a shrine on the property. The applicant is requesting approval of a conditional use permit to allow construction of a 7,200-square-foot meditation and community center. As proposed, the center will contain the following amenities: a meeting hall, a multipurpose room that will occasionally be used as a dormitory space, and four rooms for housing individual students for overnight stays for small meditation retreats. The center will include a kitchenette for tea and coffee service, and two large restrooms with showering facilities.
