Document Description
The Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has received a (TEA) Grant to conduct a roadside geo-archaeological study within the Statewide Transportation-related Archaeology Plan, Archaeological and Research category. The grant for $285,000, will provide funding for a qualified consultant to conduct research and analyze landforms along 1,676 miles of State U.S., and interstate highways within Caltrans District 2 boundaries, which includes Shasta, Trinity, Siskiyou, Modoc, Lassen, Plumas and Tehama Counties and part of Butte and Sierra counties. The goal is to identify and report the upon landforms likely to contain buried archarological resources as well as those that are either too old or too young, and therefore, not likely to have such resources.
