Document Description
The Vista Unified School District (District) has voted to close Olive Elementary School (OES) and transferred its students to the adjacent Washington Middle School (WMS) at 740 Olive Avenue. The WMS was being underutilized and had sufficient classroom capacity to accommodate the transferred elementary school students. However, in order to ensure adequate programming space, four portable classrooms from OES were relocated to the WMS campus and the kindergarten playground and hardcourts (foursquare, tetherball, basketball, and handball courts) were constructed at the WMS campus by converting a portion of the southern turf playfield (approximately 0.8 acre). the project also provided a fire lane from the cul-de-sac to the track and field. No plans are proposed for the closed OES and no attendance boundary change was involved with the closure.
