The proposed facility would consist of the redevelopment of a former vacant railroad spur to include two groundwater treatment facilities and access for operation and maintenance. The other components to the project include installation of groundwater extraction wells, groundwater injection wells, and conveyance pipelines located in the Cities of El Monte and Rosemead, CA. Water from extraction wells in Rosemead will be treated and used to supplement El Monte's drinking water supply. Water from wells in El Monte will be treated and re-injected via three injection wells. Construction and operation of the project are required by the US EPA as part of the San Gabriel Valley Superfund Site, El Monte Operable Unit (EMOU) groundwater cleanup project.
