Document Description
The City of La Mesa has developed a City-wide Plan for implementing bicycle and pedestrian facilities within the street right of way. The purpose of the plan is to improve the traveling experience when using alternative modes of transportation. The Bicycle Facilities and Alternative Transportation Plan identifies various street and sidewalk improvements needed to facilitate travel by bicyclist, pedestrians, transit passengers and travelers with disabilities. Improving the safety and efficiency of alternatives to automobile travel is the over-arching goal of the plan. The State of California has mandated incorporation of "complete street" planning into the City's transportation planning program. The project will help the City to achieve that goal.
