The project site is used for a fertilizer manufacturing facility located with the property of a former dairy operation, which completely encloses the project site. The AgroThrive facility occupies less than 1 acre of the 152-acre parcel, 10.5 acres of which is occupied by former dairy facilities. The parcel is zoned under County Zoning Ordinance (Title 21) as F/40 (Farmland, 40 acre minimum). The project site is located in the Central Salinas Valley Area Plan on a parcel that is designated as Farmland.
AgroThrive, Inc. ("the applicant") owns an existing fertilizer manufacturing facility located at the former M&M Dairy site near the City of Gonzales, CA. The facility is currently noticed and regulated with the Monterey County Environmental Health Department serving as the Local Enforcement Agency for the CA Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery. The applicant is applying for a full Solid Waste Facility Permit and will be permitted as a Compostable Material Handling Facility.
