Document Description
The proposed project is an ordinance. Generally, the proposed ordinance would enable the development of an "efficiency unit project" (i.e., residential use) to be located in the C-1 or C-2 zoning districts of the City. The first part of the proposed ordinance would amend the adopted CA Building Code, pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 17958.1. If adopted, the minimum habitable space permitted would be amended from 220 to 150 s.f. per unit. Without passage of the proposed Efficiency Unit Ordinance, the current minimum efficiency unit would remain 220 s.f. of habitable space. The entire subsection of 1208.4 would be a local amendment to the CA Building Code and be adopted into Title 9, Section 1.211.1 of the Santa Maria Municipal Code.
