Document Description
This project is located on (SR) 96 just east of Hamburg at (PM) 68.9. The embankment slope face and hinge point on the west side ot the highway has eroded over time and is now beginning to undercut the pavement causing longitudinal cracking in the roadway creating an unsafe condition for the travelling public. This condition, accompanied by narrow lanes and no shoulders increases the risk of vehicles leaving the roadway and travelling down the steep embankment. Additionally, there are residences directly below the embankment that are at risk, should a vehicle leave the roadway. The project proposes to realign highway 96 to the south to provide 4' shoulders on both sides.
