The project will reduce the risk of castatrophic wildfire in the project areas. The US Forest Service will use prescribed fire to dispose of thinned material. The use of fire in Stream Environment Zones in the Lake Tahoe Basin required a Basin Plan Prohibition Exemption and subsequent CEQA finding.
