Document Description
In response to a natural gas pipeline explosion that occurred in San Bruno in September 2010, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) drafted a Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline Comprehensive Pressure Testing Implementation Plan (Implementation Plan) to (1) evaluate the structural integrity of select segments of its natural gas transmission pipeline system; and (2) to achieve the goal of orderly testing and repair or replacement of all natural gas transmission pipelines that have not been pressure tested and where no accurate testing records exist to establish a valid maximum allowable operating pressure up to which the pipeline can normally be safety operated. The Implementation Plan was drafted to meet one of three recommendations issued by the National Transportation Safety Board to California natural gas transmission pipeline operators and the Public Utilities Commission.
