Document Description
The purpose of this project is to provide a nursery structure with shade for future restoration projects. The nursery structure will be built at the Toner site near the airport at Ocotillo Wells SVRA. A nursery at this location will alleviate water consumption at the District Office and central well. The nursery structure will be 33' long by 12' wide and 8' tall, with an open walled lath design similar to the nursery currently in use at the district office. The nursery structure will be supported by twelve, 4'x4' posts (six on each side). Twelve 18" x 2' deep holes will be dug for the posts. To provide water for the nursery a 554' trench will be dug (6" wide by 24" deep) to connect to an existing water source. A 154' trench will be dug, (6 inch wide by 24 inch deep), to provide electricity to the nursery structure from an existing power source. The two utility trenches will be dug around several Tamarisk trees to avoid harming their root structures. Crushed gravel will be laid down over the bare dirt foundation of the nursery structure to provide additional stability and traction. Two Tamarisk tree limbs growing away from the main stem along the ground will be removed (about 3' each) to clear enough space for the nursery structure. No Tamarisk trees will be removed and no native vegetation will be disturbed.
