Document Description
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California proposes to authorize four project at the Robert B. Diemer Water Treatment Plant: (1) Final Design of water sampling system improvements; (2) Final design and installation of filter process instrumentation; (3) Final design and construction of an overflow monitoring system for residual solids and wastewater; and (4) Final design and construction of supernatant pump station improvements. Improvements are needed for sample lines, sample pumps, and on-line analyzers to enable reliable and rapid response to changing water quality conditions. Aging turbidity meters at the Diemer Plant have exceeded their usual service life and need to be replaced to provide continuous monitoring of filter operations and water quality. The overflow monitoring system will include installation of electrical conduits and level switches in manholes and connection with existing remote terminal units to alert plant staff to high liquid levels in the monitored manholes. The supernatant pump station will be rehabilitated by replacing and/or refurbishing old. Unreliable turbine pumps and corroded steel pump columns.
