Document Description
The project proposes to rehabilitate 178 sewer mains totaling approximately 38,380 linear feet (7.27 miles) of existing eight-inch polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sewer pipeline using trenchless technology that includes rehabilitation of 20 manholes (MHs) and the replacement of five MHs and 40 plugs with new cleanouts. One sewer main totaling approximately 69 feet (0.01 mile) would be replaced via trenching with new eight-inch PVC pipe. In all instances, the project combined with the related scope has been identified to occur within areas classified as 'non-sensitive'. Two methods of sewer main rehabilitation may be used for this project, both utilizing existing MHs and/or cleanouts. Both require access form two MHs and/or a MH and cleanout for the each pipe segment. Cured-in-place pipe liner is pulled through the sewer main, cured used hot water or steam, and but at both manholes. Ribloc liner is pulled through the sewer main as plastic strips and then formed to the pipe to create a new pipeline within the existing pipe. In areas where secondary sewer MH/cleanout access is required, a new MH/cleanout shall be installed. Depth of new MHs, spot/point repairs would occur at a maximum depth of 14 feet below grade. The installation of a MH requires a 5'L x 5'W area, cleanouts a 3'L x 3'W area, and approximately 10'L x 3'W area from the ground surface to the existing pipeline for external point repairs. Internal and/or external point repairs may occur in portions of the pipe that require repair due to offset joints, sags, intruding laterals, et etera. Internal point repairs use similar rehabilitation methods as stated above, and are contained solely within the existing pipe.
