Document Description
The area is a large working cattle ranch, extending from the top of the ridge on Jalama Road, west to the Pacific. Jalama Creek is an undeveloped creek from the headwaters to the ocean, although the entire length flows within range land. The creek corridor crosses oak woodland and riparian habitats, along with areas of chaparral and grasslands. The Permittee intends to alter the streambed to restore a violation which included grading, removal of native riparian vegetation, pruning oak trees, replacing a culvert with concrete bag supports, and constructing new creek crossings. The required restoration consists of the revegetation of the impacted area within three years. The project consists of the removal of the concrete bags, removal of cut brush from the banks of the creek, placement of erosion control fabric on the slopes, abandonment of the new road crossings, inoculation the impact area with native seeds in a hydromulch matrix, painting live willow and cottonwood stakes and promoting native riparian recruitment.
