Document Description
To ensure that emergency and lifeguard vehicle access can be maintained during periods of low beach sand levels associated with winter storm events, an articulated concrete matting system is proposed for the subject 16' x 15' area described above for the concrete terminus of the north-facing beach access ramp located at Palm Avenue. This is a maintenance effort to provide for the placement of the subject concrete mat over the existing revetment so that public safety can be optimized by allowing emergency/lifeguard vehicle access over the existing toe of the concrete ramp as it is now subject to low sand levels during winter that effectively prohibit vehicle access. There is no expansion of project area or improvements beyond the originally entitled improvements associated with Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach. Benefits include optimum public safety infrastructure and beneficiaries include emergency and lifeguard staff, in addition to the increased general welfare of the visitors and residents around the Palm Avenue beach area.
